New GardenView Software Platform Effortlessly Creates Planting Prescriptions for Gardens
Gardeners Rejoice!
Joe Langston, of Parkville, Mo, recently surprised his wife with a detailed planting prescription for her 20’ by 40’ garden, which he generated using the new GardenView software.
Joe started by soil testing the garden in 2.5 square foot grids and was able to upload that information into GardenView, which already had topography and soil type information.
“GardenView generated unique planting zones, and we found that in some of our better zones we could increase our cucumber seeding rate by 4%, which, according to my math, will increase our total cucumber yield this year by 2.7 cucumbers.”
Langston’s grateful wife, Sherry, said she was “amused” with her husband’s interest in her garden but at the same time was concerned about what exactly to do with the extra cucumbers since no one in her family eats them.
Greg Matheson, Lead Agronomist for GardenView, said “For too long we’ve treated each square foot of the garden the same. Now, we can put the right seeding rate on the right square foot along with the right amount of fertilizer, all for a small fee of $3 per square foot.”
For an additional $2 per square foot users can upgrade to get weekly satellite imagery of their garden in case they are unable to walk outside to view their garden in person.
